Sooo You Want To Print In Nylon!?

Writer: Jason HoehneJason Hoehne

So you want to start printing in Carbon Fiber Nylon and you want to know what your first steps are. Well here is a little list of what I use to achieve this goal on my Ender 3v2.

First you will want an all metal hot end. I use a micro swiss but some of the cheaper ones work as well.

Second you will want to snag yourself or build and enclosure. I use a regular Creality hot box that works fine for me but really all you need is a enclosure that ensures you are retaining heat as well as blocking out any type of environment change

Third get yourself a filament dryer or dehydrator to dry out your filament. You want to keep your filament out of any type of moisture as this can change the integrity of your prints.

Fourth you will need hardened steel print tips. CF Nylon is very abrasive and will eat through brass as well as stainless steel hot tips.

Now for the bad news. As of now I can only print with the Polymaker PA-12 CF Nylon because its max minimum temp to print this is 260 with just so happens to be the max temp the Ender 3v2 will print at without tweaking your firmware.

This is all I can really think of off hand but I hope this points you in the right direction.

Good Luck And Good Printing!
